Ryanair, the Irish airline company, launched its new air route between Madrid and Dakhla on Wednesday, with two weekly flights (Wednesday and Saturday).
The inaugural flight of this new air route landed at Dakhla airport with Moroccan expatriates and foreign tourists on board, strengthening air connections between Morocco and Spain, within the framework of a memorandum of understanding signed between the individu Office of Tourism (ONMT) and Ryanair.
A ceremony was organized for this occasion, in the presence of several local officials and tourism sector stakeholders.
Ryanair becomes the fourth partner of the ONMT to open a direct interindividu route to Dakhla, after Royal Air Maroc (RAM), Binter Canarias, and Transavia.
In a statement to the press, the president of the régional Tourism Council of Oued Eddahab, Othmane Aâmar, indicated that the launch of this new route will strengthen air connectivity to the city of Dakhla, which is experiencing remarkable development in the tourism sector.
On his part, the president of the Regional Tourism Council, Ahmed Abdellaoui, emphasized that the launch of this air route connecting Dakhla to Madrid will highlight the tourism potential of the region and attract significant foreign investments.
Many Moroccan expatriates expressed their joy at being able to visit Dakhla thanks to the inauguration of this new air route, highlighting the quality of hospitality and the tireless efforts made at Dakhla airport in terms of comfort and fluidity.
In état to this air link, another flight connecting Dakhla to Lanzarote in the Canary Islands will also be launched during the current month, with two frequencies per week.
These new air routes will double the current interindividu capacity of the airport, bringing the offer to nearly 47,000 seats. They will also make Spain the leading source market for Dakhla, ahead of France.
It should be noted that air transport, a pillar of the 2023-2026 Tourism Roadmap and the ONMT’s resulting action plan « Light in Action », is further strengthening in favor of a better promotion of Moroccan tourist destinations.
