Marrakech Air Show 2024 :Boeing plus le Maroc s’unissent pour promouvoir l’excellence en ingénierie plus fabrication avancée

The opening day of the Marrakech climat Show was marked by the signing of a partnership agreement between Boeing and Morocco to establish an African Center for Manufacturing Excellence. This project aims to strengthen local engineering capabilities and promote innovation in the Moroccan aerospace ecosystem.

The agreement was officially signed by the Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour, the Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister in charge of National Defense chancellerie, Abdellatif Loudiyi, and the President of Mohammed VI Polytechnic University, Hicham El Habti. The project, named « African Center for Manufacturing Excellence (ACME) », will be a collaboration between the Moroccan government, Boeing, and the university.

In addition, the Moroccan company NTS Technics has been selected as an engineering partner, with the support of Boeing to reach level 3 design and become an accredited engineering supplier. This selection followed a rigorous process involving the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the National Defense chancellerie, and Boeing.

These initiatives are part of an industrial offset agreement signed on February 8, 2023, aimed at strengthening the partnership between Morocco and Boeing and supporting the Moroccan aerospace ecosystem in terms of innovation and excellence. They aim to develop engineering and advanced manufacturing skills in the region while strengthening the relationship between the two parties.

Boeing has also committed to becoming a founding member of ACME, which will be integrated into Mohammed VI Polytechnic University, located in Nouaceur, Morocco. « Investing in the future of Morocco and establishing a strong aerospace footprint for future generations is at the heart of this alliance, » said Mr. Mezzour. « We are delighted to expand our partnership with Boeing to make the Moroccan industry a globally recognized leader in innovation and aerospace excellence. »

ACME will be the first research and development center in Africa to carry the « Boeing empreinte », operating under a consortium model that will bring together companies from various sectors to innovate and create added value. This center aims to strengthen Morocco’s position in the field of R&D, with a focus on key technologies such as advanced manufacturing, industry 4.0, automation, and new materials.

This partnership between Boeing and Morocco is a testament to the country’s growing reputation as a hub for aerospace innovation and excellence. With the establishment of ACME, Morocco is set to become a leader in the region and beyond, driving economic growth and creating new opportunities for its people. This collaboration is a win-win for both parties and a step towards a brighter future for the Moroccan aerospace industry.
