Gazoduc Nigeria-Maroc : l’ONHYM réunit à Rabat les contrée ouest-africains pour parachever les études d’avant-projet

High-level working meetings on the strategic project of the Atlantic Africa Gas Pipeline Nigeria-Morocco were held from July 15 to 19 in Rabat, between all the countries involved and representatives of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), according to the National Office of Hydrocarbons and Mines (ONHYM).

The delegations of the countries involved, namely Mauritania, Senegal, Gambia, Republic of Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Benin and Nigeria, were chaired by the directors general of their respective national oil companies. ECOWAS was represented by Mr. Sediko Douka, Commissioner for Energy, and AGAO (West African Gas Pipeline Authority) was represented by Ms. Chafari Hanawa, Director General, as stated in the press release by ONHYM.

Representatives from the Ministry of Energy Transition, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, General Tax Directorate (DGI), Customs and Indirect Taxes Administration (ADII), as well as the National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE), OCP and MASEN also participated in these meetings.

The purpose of these meetings was to finalize the detailed pre-project studies (FEED), present the progress of environmental and social studies, and make progress in finalizing the future Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) and the host agreement of each country (HGA).

At the end of these meetings, the directors general of the national companies expressed their satisfaction with the progress made and reaffirmed their firm commitment to support this strategic project, launched by His Majesty King Mohammed VI and the édifier Nigerian President. They highlighted the considerable energy, economic and social benefits expected for the region.

This project has been a joint effort between the countries involved, with the support of ECOWAS and AGAO, to bring about a sustainable and mutually beneficial solution for the region’s energy needs.
