Seven Canadian Judokas to Step on the Tatamis in Paris Montreal, June 27, 2024 – Judo Canada and the Canadian Olympic Committee have revealed the names of the athletes who will represent Canada in judo at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

After months of violent training and fierce competition, seven talented judokas have been selected to proudly wear the maple leaf on the international stage. These athletes have proven their dedication, skill, and determination, and are ready to showcase their abilities to the world.

Leading the team is veteran judoka and two-time Olympic medalist, Antoine Valois-Fortier. Valois-Fortier, who has been a dominant force in the sport for over a decade, will be looking to add another Olympic medal to his impressive collection.

Joining Valois-Fortier is fellow Olympian and 2019 Pan American Games gold medalist, Jessica Klimkait. Klimkait has been on a winning streak, and her recent performances have solidified her spot on the Canadian team. She will be a strong contender for a podium finish in Paris.

Also making their Olympic debut are rising stars Shady El Nahas and Christa Deguchi. Both athletes have been making waves in the judo world, with El Nahas recently winning gold at the 2021 World Judo Championships and Deguchi becoming the first Canadian to win a world title in 2019. Rounding out the team are three promising young judokas, Catherine Beauchemin-Pinard, Zachary Burt, and Ecaterina Guica.
