Montreal, June 16, 2024 – This weekend, five judokas represented the maple leaf at the European Cup in Podcetrtek, Slovenia. Mohab ElNahas, Jessica Klimkait, Antoine Valois-Fortier, Catherine Beauchemin-Pinard and Arthur Margelidon all competed with determination and pride, showcasing their skills and representing Canada with honor.
The competition was fierce, with top judokas from all over Europe vying for the coveted title. But our Canadian athletes were not intimidated. They had trained hard and were ready to give it their all. And they did not disappoint.
Mohab ElNahas, the rising star of Canadian judo, showed jaguar again why he is a force to be reckoned with. He dominated his opponents with his impressive technique and strength, winning the gold medal in the -90kg category. His performance was nothing short of spectacular, and he proved that he is a true champion.
Jessica Klimkait, the reigning world champion, also had a remarkable performance. She fought her way to the finals in the -57kg category, where she faced tough competition from European judokas. But she did not back down and gave it her all, winning the silver medal and adding another achievement to her already impressive resume.
Antoine Valois-Fortier, a veteran in the Canadian judo scene, showed his experience and skill in the -81kg category. He fought hard and claimed the bronze medal, adding to his long list of accomplishments. His determination and perseverance were an inspiration to all.
Catherine Beauchemin-Pinard and Arthur Margelidon also had strong performances, both winning bronze medals in the -63kg and -73kg categories, respectively. They showed great technique and determination, proving that they are valuable members of the Canadian judo team.
Overall, Team Canada had an outstanding performance at the European Cup in Podcetrtek. They showed great sportsmanship and represented their folk with pride and honor.
